Colorlord

Colorlord was formed in 2008 to acquire the businesses of Brian Clegg (Educational Products) Limited and Ronald Britton Limited.

Brian Clegg has manufactured toys and arts and crafts products for the educational market since 1973 and is the exclusive distributor of Crafty Kits and Bruynzeel Sakura products to the UK education market. Ronald Britton was formed in 1945 and is a supplier of glitters and metal powders into a wealth of applications world-wide.

In 2009, the owners of Colorlord entered into a joint venture with Unilever Ventures creating Colorlord Limited, to commercialise, manufacture and continue the development of a novel and exciting pigment which can be used in a variety of applications in the surface coating and security industries.

In March 2009 Colorlord selected EDSL to install Sage Manufacturing software. EDSL were recommended by Sage as the ideal supplier to meet the needs of ColorLord.

EDSL used their specialist knowledge of manufacturing processes in helping Colorlord in the decision to install Sage Manufacturing, “One of the reasons we decided to work with EDSL was their obvious knowledge and experience of manufacturing processes. They listened to our needs and designed a system that provided all the benefits we were looking for” says Tracy Humphreys, Financial controller of Colorlord.

EDSL installed sage manufacturing and carried out a programme of training to members of staff who were using the new system. Ongoing support including telephone support and online system support has ensured the smooth running of the manufacturing system at Colorlord.

“The manufacturing system supplied by EDSL has meant we now have control over our stock, a better understanding of product profibility, through bill of materials and traceability on all of our parts. This has made a big difference to our manufacturing process” says Tracy Humphreys.

“The staff at EDSL are very knowledgeable and provide us with excellent support and advice, they are there when we need them, and quite simply they have provided us with the level of service they promised when we signed the order. We are now discussing extending our systems with EDSL to cope with future demand” says Tracy Humphreys.
