Background
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is the oldest surviving professional symphony orchestra in the UK and the second oldest concert-giving organisation. The philharmonic includes a choir, contemporary music group, chamber music, youth orchestra, and youth choirs. They perform around 70 concerts annually at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, a Grade II listed building, and frequently appear in London, across the UK, and abroad.
The Challenge
Unlike commercial organisations, the Philharmonic needed a financial system capable of producing a profit and loss account for every event, enabling detailed analysis of revenue and costs.
The Solution
EDSL has been supporting Liverpool Philharmonic since 1998, integrating Sage 100 and later Sage 200 to manage complex event-based accounting efficiently.
The Results
Management can cost every event, identifying profits or losses
Tracks ticket sales, refreshments, programme sales, and staff costs
Provides insights for planning future events based on past performance
Supports forward planning and financial decision-making for concerts
Customer Testimonial
“EDSL’s expertise allows us to track every event’s financial performance, ensuring informed decisions and sustainable management of our concerts.”
Summary
With EDSL and Sage, Liverpool Philharmonic can manage hundreds of event accounts accurately, streamline reporting, and make data-driven decisions for future performances.
